Cat FAQs
We are a small scale, quality focused Ragdoll & Cherubim cattery registered with TICA and CFA devoted to preserving the beauty, health, and loving temperament that make this breed so special. Our philosophy is simple: quality over quantity.
We plan only a limited number of litters each year to ensure that our queens receive the rest, care, and attention they deserve between pregnancies. Every decision to breed is made with their health and wellbeing as our top priority.
Each Ragdoll kitten is raised in a nurturing home environment, surrounded by love and socialization from birth. Our goal is to produce healthy, well adjusted kittens that embody the gentle, affectionate nature Ragdolls are cherished for.

Choosing a registered breeder means choosing integrity, transparency, and a lifelong commitment to the health and welfare of every kitten. Registered catteries, recognized by associations such as CFA (Cat Fanciers’ Association) and TICA (The International Cat Association), are held to strict ethical and breeding standards designed to protect both the cats and their future families.
Ethical breeding practices include:
Selective, purposeful pairings — ensuring every litter is planned with health, temperament, and breed standard in mind, never for profit or convenience.
Comprehensive health testing — all breeding cats are screened for genetic and infectious diseases to prevent the spread of hereditary conditions.
Proper kitten development and care — kittens are raised in a safe, clean, and nurturing environment with early socialization, veterinary care, and a minimum 12-week stay before going to their new homes.
Transparency and honesty — registered breeders maintain open communication with new families, provide pedigree documentation, and stand behind the kittens they produce.
Lifetime responsibility — an ethical breeder cares about the well-being of each kitten for its entire life and will always accept a cat back if needed.
These practices are what set registered breeders apart. They ensure that kittens are healthy, well-adjusted, and true to the breed’s standard, while also promoting responsible ownership and animal welfare.
Ethical breeding is not about producing kittens — it’s about preserving the integrity of the breed, protecting the health of the animals, and creating meaningful, lasting matches between cats and families.
🏆 Verify That We're a Registered TICA Cattery
At Pink Purrrdolls, we believe that transparency is one of the foundations of responsible breeding.
When you're searching for a Ragdoll kitten, it's important to know exactly who you're buying from. Unfortunately, not every breeder who claims to be "registered" or "ethical" can provide proof of their credentials. That's why we're proud to make our cattery registration publicly available.
You can verify our cattery directly through The International Cat Association (TICA)—one of the world's largest and most respected cat registries.
Our official TICA cattery page:

💖 Why We Encourage Verification
A reputable breeder should never be afraid of questions or verification.
In fact, responsible breeders welcome educated buyers because choosing a kitten should be a thoughtful and informed decision.
Unfortunately, online kitten scams have become increasingly common. Some dishonest sellers may:
🚩 Use stolen kitten photos.
🚩 Pretend to be registered breeders.
🚩 Create fake websites or social media pages.
🚩 Claim registrations they cannot verify.
🚩 Avoid providing documentation.
Taking the time to verify breeder information helps protect families from scams and supports ethical breeders who prioritize the health and well-being of their cats.
🐾 What Is TICA?
The International Cat Association (TICA) is one of the largest feline registries in the world, dedicated to the preservation, registration, and promotion of pedigreed cats.
TICA maintains breed standards, records pedigrees, registers catteries and litters, and supports responsible breeding practices through its programs and Code of Ethics.
💗 What Does It Mean to Be a Registered TICA Cattery?
Being a TICA-registered cattery means our cattery name has been officially registered, and we register our breeding cats and litters through TICA. Our public breeder profile confirms details such as our breed, location, and that we register litters with TICA. While registration alone does not guarantee quality, it reflects our commitment to maintaining proper pedigree records and participating in an established breed registry.
🔍 Why Should You Verify a Breeder?
Sadly, online pet scams have become increasingly common. Some websites falsely claim to sell purebred kittens while using stolen photos or pretending to represent legitimate breeders.
Before placing a deposit, every buyer should verify a breeder whenever possible.
A responsible breeder should be transparent about:
✔ Their registered cattery name
✔ The registry they belong to
✔ Health testing of breeding cats
✔ Veterinary care
✔ Registration paperwork
✔ Contracts and health guarantees
✔ Ongoing support after adoption
We encourage every family to ask questions and do their research before purchasing a kitten.
📄 What You'll Receive From Us
When you adopt a kitten from Pink Purrrdolls, you can expect comprehensive documentation, including:
✔ Vaccination records
✔ Deworming history
✔ Microchip information
✔ Health guarantee
✔ Purchase contract
✔ Registration paperwork (as outlined in your purchase agreement)
✔ Lifetime breeder support
We believe every new family deserves complete transparency and peace of mind.
❤️ Why Registration Matters
Choosing a breeder is about far more than finding a beautiful kitten. It's about choosing someone who is committed to preserving the breed, prioritizing health and temperament, and providing lifelong support for every kitten they produce.
At Pink Purrrdolls, we are proud to:
🤍 Raise our kittens in our home—not in cages.
🤍 Carefully socialize each kitten from birth.
🤍 Perform health testing on our breeding cats.
🤍 Register our litters through TICA.
🤍 Provide comprehensive veterinary care before kittens leave for their forever homes.
🤍 Remain available to support our families throughout their kitten's life.
Our commitment doesn't end when your kitten goes home—it lasts a lifetime.
💖 The Bottom Line
Purchasing a purebred Ragdoll is an important decision, and choosing a reputable breeder is one of the most important parts of that journey. We encourage every prospective family to verify breeder credentials, ask questions, and never hesitate to request proof of health testing, registration, or veterinary care.
At Pink Purrrdolls, we're proud of the work we do and believe that openness and honesty are essential. That's why our TICA cattery profile is available for anyone to view.
We invite you to verify our registration, explore our breeding program, and get to know us. We look forward to helping you welcome a healthy, well socialized, and deeply loved Ragdoll kitten into your family. 🤍
Bringing home a Ragdoll kitten is an exciting milestone—but it's also an important decision that deserves careful research. Unfortunately, the popularity of Ragdolls has led to a rise in online scams, unethical breeding practices, and backyard breeders who prioritize profit over the health and well-being of their cats.
At Pink Purrrdolls, we believe every family deserves complete transparency, honest communication, and a healthy, well socialized kitten. We also believe that an educated buyer is the best defense against scams. Whether you choose one of our kittens or another breeder's, we encourage you to ask questions, do your research, and never feel pressured into making a quick decision.
Here's what every future kitten owner should know.
🚩 Beware of Online Kitten Scams
Sadly, fake breeder websites and social media accounts have become increasingly common.
Scammers often steal photos from legitimate breeders, advertise kittens they don't actually have, and disappear after receiving payment.
Some warning signs include:
❌ Prices that seem far below market value.
❌ Pressure to send a deposit immediately.
❌ Refusal to schedule a phone or video call.
❌ Requests for payment through unusual or untraceable methods.
❌ No physical location or business information.
❌ No veterinary records.
❌ No purchase contract.
❌ Poor communication or vague answers.
❌ Stock photos or images copied from other breeders.
❌ Promises that sound "too good to be true."
If something feels suspicious, trust your instincts and continue your search.
🏡 What Is a Backyard Breeder?
A backyard breeder is not simply someone who breeds cats at home. Rather, the term refers to someone who breeds without following responsible breeding practices. Their primary goal is often producing kittens for profit rather than improving the breed.
Backyard breeders may:
• Skip genetic health testing.
• Breed cats too frequently.
• Breed unhealthy or poor-quality cats.
• Sell kittens too young.
• Provide little or no veterinary care.
• Fail to socialize kittens properly.
• Offer no health guarantee or ongoing support.
• Lack knowledge of the breed standard and responsible breeding practices.
The result can be kittens with preventable health issues, behavioral problems, or poor temperaments.
❤️ What Does a Responsible Breeder Do?
A reputable breeder is committed to producing healthy, well-adjusted kittens—not simply selling cats. Responsible breeders invest significant time, money, and care into every litter.
A reputable breeder should:
✔ Health test their breeding cats whenever appropriate.
✔ Provide regular veterinary care.
✔ Raise kittens in a clean, loving home environment.
✔ Socialize kittens from an early age.
✔ Feed a high-quality diet.
✔ Keep kittens with their mother and littermates until they are developmentally ready to go home.
✔ Provide a written purchase contract and health guarantee.
✔ Be available to answer questions throughout your cat's life.
✔ Care deeply about where every kitten is placed.
A responsible breeder is choosing families just as carefully as families are choosing a breeder.
📋 Questions Every Buyer Should Ask Any Breeder
Before placing a deposit, don't be afraid to ask questions. A reputable breeder should be happy to answer them.
Consider asking:
✔ Are your breeding cats registered?
✔ Do you perform health testing?
✔ Can I see photos or videos of the kittens and parents?
✔ What vaccinations and veterinary care will my kitten receive?
✔ Will my kitten be microchipped?
✔ Do you provide a written contract?
✔ Do you offer a health guarantee?
✔ What food has my kitten been eating?
✔ What kind of socialization do your kittens receive?
✔ Will you be available if I have questions after bringing my kitten home?
Responsible breeders welcome these conversations because they care about the long-term success of every kitten they place.
🩺 Veterinary Care Matters
Healthy kittens don't happen by chance. Before leaving for their forever homes, kittens should receive appropriate veterinary care, including:
✔ Comprehensive wellness examinations.
✔ Age appropriate vaccinations.
✔ Routine deworming.
✔ Microchipping (if offered by the breeder).
✔ Careful monitoring of growth and development.
Good breeders invest heavily in preventative care long before their kittens are available for adoption.
🏡 Why Early Socialization Is So Important
The first few months of a kitten's life play a huge role in shaping their personality.
Well-socialized kittens are exposed to:
🤍 Everyday household sounds.
🤍 Gentle handling.
🤍 Regular grooming.
🤍 Nail trimming.
🤍 Different toys and enrichment.
🤍 Positive human interaction.
These early experiences help kittens grow into confident, affectionate, and adaptable companions.
📄 A Written Contract Protects Everyone
A professional breeder should always provide a clear purchase agreement outlining important details such as:
✔ Health guarantees.
✔ Veterinary responsibilities.
✔ Spay/neuter requirements (if applicable).
✔ Registration information.
✔ Return policy.
✔ Breeder and buyer responsibilities.
Contracts protect both the kitten and everyone involved.
🤝 A Responsible Breeder Doesn't Disappear After Adoption
One of the biggest differences between a reputable breeder and an unethical seller is what happens after your kitten goes home.
A responsible breeder remains available to answer questions about:
🐾 Nutrition
🐾 Grooming
🐾 Behavior
🐾 Veterinary care
🐾 Growth and development
At Pink Purrrdolls, we genuinely enjoy watching our kittens grow and love receiving updates from their families. Our commitment doesn't end on pickup day—we're always here to offer guidance and support whenever you need it.
🌸 Why Families Choose Pink Purrrdolls
At Pink Purrrdolls, our goal has always been to raise healthy, loving Ragdolls with exceptional temperaments and provide lifelong support to every family who welcomes one of our kittens.
When you adopt from us, you can expect:
🤍 A registered TICA cattery.
🤍 Carefully planned breedings.
🤍 Health tested breeding cats.
🤍 Kittens raised inside our home as part of the family.
🤍 Early socialization from birth.
🤍 Comprehensive veterinary examinations.
🤍 Age appropriate vaccinations and deworming.
🤍 Microchipping before going home.
🤍 A written purchase contract and health guarantee.
🤍 Ongoing breeder support for the lifetime of your cat.
🤍 Honest communication throughout the adoption process.
We take great pride in raising each kitten with love, patience, and careful attention, ensuring they're well prepared for life with their new families.
💖 The Bottom Line
Choosing a breeder isn't just about finding the cutest kitten—it's about finding someone you can trust to give your future companion the healthiest, happiest start in life. Take your time, ask questions, verify credentials, and never feel pressured into making a rushed decision. A reputable breeder will always welcome your questions and appreciate that you're doing your homework.
At Pink Purrrdolls, we're proud of the care we provide, the relationships we build with our families, and the lifelong commitment we make to every kitten we raise. Whether you're just beginning your search or preparing to welcome one of our Ragdolls into your home, we're here to help guide you every step of the way.
Your future companion deserves nothing less than the very best start in life—and we're honored to be part of that journey. 🤍
One of the most common questions breeders get is:
“Can I visit the cattery to see the kittens?”
While it may seem like a simple request, ethical breeders — especially those raising young kittens — must say no for important health and safety reasons.
🦠 1. Biosecurity: Protecting Kittens From Deadly Diseases
Kittens under 12 weeks have immature immune systems.
A single visitor can unknowingly carry in:
• Feline Panleukopenia (parvo)
• Ringworm
• Respiratory viruses
• Intestinal parasites
• Bacteria and fungi from shoes, clothes, or hands
These pathogens can survive on clothing for days, and one exposure can harm or kill an entire litter.
🐱👓 2. Preventing Stress in Queens & Young Kittens
Mother cats are extremely protective postpartum.
Strangers entering their space can cause:
• Stress-induced milk loss
• Anxiety
• Aggression
• Kittens hiding or nursing less
Stress = weakened immune systems.
A calm, stable environment is crucial for healthy development.
📌 3. Insurance, Liability & Safety
Breeders are legally responsible for everything that happens inside their home.
This includes:
• Allergic reactions
• Falls
• Bites or scratches
• Insurance restrictions
• Liability issues
Most breeder insurance policies do not cover walk-through visits.
🔒 4. Home Privacy & Security
A cattery is not a storefront — it’s the breeder’s private home.
Reputable breeders protect their:
• Home address
• Animals
• Children
• Personal belongings
Inviting strangers into a home full of high-value animals can be a security risk.
🧬 5. Ethical Breeders Prioritize Health, Not Sales Tactics
Some people expect to “pick out a kitten in person” or compare kittens physically.
Responsible breeders prioritize:
• Temperament evaluation
• Structure quality
• Proper placement
• Safe environment
Not letting visitors in is a sign of a high-quality breeder, not a red flag.
🎥 6. Virtual Visits Are Safer & Just as Effective
Instead of in-person visits, ethical breeders offer:
📸 Photo updates
🎥 Video tours
📹 FaceTime/Zoom meetings
🐾 Weekly growth updates
You still see your kitten — just without risking their health.
💬 Final Message
If a breeder tells you they do not allow visitors, it is not secrecy — it is responsibility.
This policy protects:
❤️ your future kitten
❤️ the entire cattery
❤️ the health of current and future litters
And if someone requires a visit to feel comfortable, that’s okay —
but we are simply not the right fit, and that’s completely fine.
Here at Pink Purrrdolls, we’re proud to produce both the beloved traditional Ragdolls—known for their captivating blue eyes and classic color points—as well as the increasingly popular Mink, Sepia, and Solid varieties.
From our current pairings, we are able to produce kittens in the following colors:
Seal
Red
Chocolate
Our kittens may come in a variety of patterns, including:
Lynx
Bi-color
Mitted
Tortie
Looking ahead, our goal at Pink Paradise is to expand our program to include kittens in Blue, Lilac, and Fawn, continuing our dedication to quality, diversity, and the stunning beauty of the Ragdoll breed.
All of our pet kittens are sold under a spay/neuter agreement via SpaySecure, which helps ensure every kitten is altered at the proper age and provides verification directly from your veterinarian. Pet kittens must be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age, as part of our contract and responsible breeding practices. This policy ensures that our kittens are placed in loving, responsible homes, and helps prevent unethical or unplanned breeding.
Spay Secure Contact Info

Email: Help@spaysecure.com
Spaying and neutering are vital aspects of responsible pet ownership. They prevent unwanted litters, reduce the risk of certain health issues, and promote a calmer, more balanced temperament. This practice supports the broader goal of reducing overpopulation and protecting the welfare of cats as a whole.
However, it’s important to understand that early spay and neuter (before full physical maturity) is not always ideal. While it is common in shelters or high-volume settings, in purebred kittens — especially slow-developing breeds like Ragdolls — early alteration can sometimes have negative effects on growth and hormonal development.
Potential concerns include:
Delayed growth plate closure, leading to longer limbs or altered body structure
Increased risk of certain orthopedic issues later in life
Hormonal imbalance that may affect coat quality, muscle tone, or maturity
For this reason, we recommend that kittens are spayed or neutered at an age appropriate for their individual development, typically between 5 to 7 months, unless advised otherwise by your veterinarian.
By following this approach, we prioritize each kitten’s long-term health, development, and overall well-being, while maintaining our commitment to ethical breeding and responsible ownership.
To reserve a kitten from Pink Purrrdolls, we require a non-refundable deposit of $500.00 CAD.
Deposits can be made securely via Interac E-Transfer to:
📧 pinkpurrrdolls@gmail.com
This deposit guarantees chosen kitten until they are ready to go home. The remaining balance will be due when the kitten is ready for pickup or delivery.
To purchase a kitten from Pink Purrrdolls, a sales contract must be signed at the time you place your deposit to reserve your kitten.
This contract outlines the terms of sale, health guarantees, spay/neuter agreement (via Spay Secure), and our shared commitment to the kitten’s lifelong wellbeing. We believe that clear communication and mutual understanding help ensure a smooth and positive adoption experience for both the kitten and their new family.

At Pink Purrrdolls, we currently do not maintain a waitlist before a litter is born. This ensures that potential families can see and choose from actual available kittens, rather than waiting for future litters.
Kittens become available for reservation at around 4 weeks of age, once we’ve had time to evaluate their health, development, and markings. At that time, we begin accepting deposits to reserve specific kittens.
At Pink Purrrdolls, we’re happy to offer convenient delivery options to ensure your kitten arrives safely and comfortably in their new home.
🐾 Local Delivery (Calgary & Surrounding Areas)
We provide hand delivery within Calgary and nearby regions for a fee of $50.00–$100.00 CAD, depending on your location. We personally deliver your kitten right to your door—with love and care!
✈️ Canada-Wide Delivery
For families located elsewhere in Canada, we offer delivery options ranging from $350.00–$800.00 CAD, depending on distance and travel arrangements.
Kittens travel personally escorted by us to ensure comfort and safety at all times.
Each kitten travels with a soft carrier, a familiar blanket with mom’s scent, and all necessary paperwork, including health records and registration documents (if applicable).
We stay in contact throughout the journey to provide updates until your kitten is safely in your arms.
Please note that at this time, we do not offer delivery to the USA or overseas.
Kittens leave for their forever homes at 12 weeks, fully vet-checked, fecal PCR, dewormed, and with their first round of vaccines.
At our cattery, kittens are permitted to leave for their new homes no earlier than 12 weeks of age. This timeline is not only in the best interest of the kitten’s health and development, but it is also the ethical standard upheld by major cat associations such as CFA and TICA. These organizations recognize that the first 12 weeks are critical for proper socialization, emotional maturity, and immune development.
During this period, kittens learn essential behaviors from their mother and littermates, build confidence, and receive their full veterinary care schedule. This includes vaccinations, health evaluations, and monitoring that ensures each kitten is stable, healthy, and ready for a smooth transition into their new environment.
While some breeders choose to send kittens home at 8 weeks, this is generally influenced by convenience or lower expenses rather than the long-term welfare of the kitten. At 8 weeks, a kitten is still undergoing vital stages of emotional, social, and physical development. Removing them too early can increase the risk of behavioral issues, stress, and compromised immunity. Ethical breeding always places the wellbeing of the kitten above cost or convenience, which is why following the 12week guideline is considered responsible practice by CFA and TICA standards.
Our priority is, and will always remain, the health, confidence, and emotional stability of every kitten we place. The 12 week standard ensures we send home kittens who are fully prepared to thrive in their new families.
Bringing home a kitten is an exciting and joyful experience! To make the transition as smooth as possible for both you and your new friend, here are some tips to prepare your home:
🐾 Create a Safe Space
Set up a quiet, cozy area where your kitten can feel secure. Include a soft bed, a few blankets, and a small play area. This will help them adjust to their new environment without feeling overwhelmed.
🧴 Stock Up on Essentials
Make sure you have all the necessary supplies ready before your kitten arrives:
Litter box and litter
Food and water bowls
High-quality kitten food (consult us for our recommended brand)
Scratching posts and interactive toys
🧼 Kitten-Proof Your Home
Remove any hazards such as small objects, cords, or toxic plants. Keep household cleaners, medications, and fragile items out of reach.
❤️ Bond and Socialize
Spend plenty of time with your kitten, offering gentle petting, play, and reassurance. Ragdolls are affectionate and thrive on human interaction, so early bonding is essential.
📅 Schedule a Vet Check
Arrange a veterinary appointment within the first few days of bringing your kitten home to ensure they are healthy and up to date on vaccinations and preventive care.

At Pink Purrrdolls, we believe that early socialization is key to raising confident, happy, and well-adjusted kittens. Our socialization process begins from the first few weeks of life and includes both mental and physical enrichment.
1. Gentle Handling
Kittens are handled daily to get them comfortable with human touch.
We introduce different people, sounds, and gentle activities to help them feel safe and confident.
2. Exposure to New Environments
Kittens explore safe, kitten-proofed areas to build curiosity and confidence.
They encounter new textures, objects, and gentle obstacles for mental stimulation.
3. Play and Exercise
Interactive toys like wands, balls, and puzzle feeders encourage physical activity and problem-solving skills.
Playtime also strengthens their bond with humans and develops healthy coordination.
4. Positive Reinforcement
Treats, praise, and gentle encouragement are used to reinforce good behavior and curiosity.
Socialization is always a positive experience, never forced.
5. Gradual Introduction to Daily Life
Kittens are gradually exposed to household noises, routines, and safe interaction with other pets to prepare them for their forever homes.
💗 Result:
By the time they leave for their new families, our Ragdolls are confident, affectionate, and adaptable, ready to thrive in loving homes.
🐾 Health & Care Practices
At Pink Purrrdolls, the health and wellbeing of our cats and kittens is our top priority.
Genetic Testing & Vet Checks
All potential parents are tested and cleared for genetic diseases and receive thorough vet checks before breeding. This ensures that our kittens are born healthy and free of hereditary issues.
Our program includes screening for conditions such as:
• Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM)
• Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD)
• Mucopolysaccharidosis VI (MPS VI)
• FeLV and FIV testing
• Routine fecal PCR screening
• Regular veterinary wellness care
By carefully selecting healthy breeding cats, we strive to produce healthy, well socialized kittens for generations to come.
Nutrition & Care for Breeding Queens
All breeding queens are provided with high-quality nutrition and supplements before, during, and after each pregnancy to support their health and the development of their kittens.
Early Socialization & Enrichment
Our kittens are well-socialized from a young age. They are gently exposed to a variety of mental and physical challenges, which research has shown helps improve confidence, neurological development, and stress tolerance.
Veterinary Care for Kittens
Before going to their forever homes, all kittens are examined by a veterinarian twice to ensure they are healthy. Each kitten leaves with:
Their two round of FVRCP vaccinations
Deworming
Guaranteed free of genetic diseases
We are committed to raising happy, confident, and healthy Ragdolls & Cherubim, ready to become loving members of your family.
🐾 Pet Insurance Recommendation
At Pink Purrrdolls, we strongly recommend all new pet parents consider pet insurance for their kittens. It’s much easier to obtain coverage when pets are young, and insurance does not cover pre-existing conditions, so enrolling early helps protect your kitten from unexpected health concerns.
Petsecure Trial
All kittens go home with a 6-week free trial of Pets Secure pet insurance, which begins after a 48-hour waiting period from activation.
The trial includes:
Coverage for 80% of eligible vet fees (up to $500)
Protection for accidents and illnesses
$100 deductible per condition
Coverage applicable for kittens aged 8 weeks to 1 year
We believe pet insurance provides peace of mind and ensures that your kitten has access to veterinary care whenever it’s needed.
Yes.
Every Pink Purrrdolls kitten goes home with a written two years health guarantee outlining the protections provided to our families.
Before going home, every kitten receives:
• Veterinary examinations.
• Age-appropriate vaccinations.
• Deworming.
• A clean bill of health.
• Health records.
• TICA registration paperwork after spayed or neutered
At Pink Purrrdolls, every kitten leaves our home already microchipped because we believe permanent identification is one of the most important investments you can make in your cat's lifelong safety. While collars and ID tags are valuable, they can break, slip off, or be removed. A microchip provides permanent identification that stays with your kitten for life, giving them the best chance of being reunited with you should they ever become lost.
Here's everything you should know about microchipping and why it's an essential part of responsible pet ownership.
🐾 What Is a Microchip?
A microchip is a tiny electronic identification chip, approximately the size of a grain of rice.
It is implanted just beneath the skin between your cat's shoulder blades using a sterile needle during a quick procedure performed by a veterinarian.
The microchip:
✔ Is permanent.
✔ Requires no batteries.
✔ Does not contain GPS.
✔ Does not track your cat's location.
✔ Lasts for your cat's entire lifetime.
Each microchip contains a unique identification number that can be read using a universal microchip scanner.
📡 What Does a Microchip Actually Do?
One of the biggest misconceptions is that a microchip works like a GPS tracker.
It does not. Instead, the chip stores a unique identification number.
When a lost cat is brought to:
🐾 A veterinary clinic
🐾 An emergency animal hospital
🐾 A humane society
🐾 An animal shelter
🐾 Animal control staff can scan the microchip.
The identification number links to a secure database containing the owner's contact information, making it possible to reunite lost pets with their families.
🏡 "My Cat Is Indoor Only—Do They Really Need One?"
Absolutely. Many owners assume indoor cats never get lost. Unfortunately, indoor cats can escape in unexpected ways.
Examples include:
🚪 A door accidentally left open.
📦 Movers carrying furniture.
🚚 Deliveries.
👧 Curious children.
🐶 Dogs pushing open doors.
🪟 Damaged window screens.
🔥 House fires or emergencies.
🚗 Veterinary visits.
🧳 Travel.
Cats that have never been outdoors often become frightened if they escape and may hide silently nearby instead of coming when called. Having a registered microchip dramatically increases the likelihood of a safe return.
🩺 Is Microchipping Safe?
Yes. Microchipping has been safely performed on millions of pets worldwide.
The procedure:
✔ Takes only a few seconds.
✔ Does not require surgery.
✔ Usually causes no more discomfort than a routine vaccination.
✔ Does not require anesthesia.
Most kittens recover immediately and continue playing as though nothing happened.
Serious complications are extremely rare.
💙 Why We Microchip Every Pink Purrrdolls Kitten
Every kitten born at Pink Purrrdolls is loved as part of our family. Although we hope they never become lost, we know accidents can happen. Microchipping provides an extra layer of protection that stays with your kitten for life. It also offers peace of mind, knowing your beloved companion has permanent identification if the unexpected occurs. It's one more way we help ensure every kitten has the safest possible start.
🏷️ A Collar Is Important—But It Isn't Enough
We still recommend that every cat wear a properly fitted breakaway collar with an ID tag whenever possible.
However, collars can:
• Fall off.
• Break.
• Become caught on objects.
• Be removed.
If your cat loses their collar, the microchip remains. Think of a collar as your cat's first form of identification—and the microchip as their permanent backup.
📋 Registering Your Microchip
A microchip is only effective if the registration information is accurate. Once you bring your kitten home, it is your responsibility to ensure the microchip is registered in your name and that your contact information remains current.
Be sure to update your registration whenever you change:
✔ Address
✔ Phone number
✔ Email address
✔ Emergency contact information
An unregistered microchip cannot help reunite you with your cat.
🩺 Have the Microchip Checked During Vet Visits
Although microchips are designed to last a lifetime, it's a good idea to ask your veterinarian to scan your cat's chip during routine wellness exams.
This quick check confirms that:
✔ The chip is still functioning.
✔ It can be read easily.
✔ The identification number matches your records.
It only takes a few seconds and provides valuable peace of mind.
✈️ Microchips Are Often Required for Travel
If you ever plan to travel internationally with your cat, a microchip may be required before entry into certain countries. Many airlines, border agencies, and international health certificates rely on microchip identification to verify your pet's identity. Having your kitten microchipped early helps prepare them for future travel if needed.
🐾 Microchips Also Help in Emergencies
Natural disasters, house fires, floods, and unexpected emergencies can separate families from their pets. When frightened cats are rescued or brought into shelters, a microchip may be the only reliable way to identify them. Permanent identification can make all the difference during these stressful situations.
❤️ Our Commitment to Responsible Breeding
At Pink Purrrdolls, we believe responsible breeding extends far beyond producing beautiful kittens.
It means preparing every kitten for a lifetime of health, safety, and success in their new home.
Before leaving our cattery, every kitten receives:
✔ Veterinary health examinations.
✔ Age-appropriate vaccinations.
✔ Deworming.
✔ Microchipping.
✔ Registration paperwork.
✔ Comprehensive health records.
We want every family to feel confident knowing their new companion has received the very best start in life.
💖 The Bottom Line
A microchip is one of the simplest, safest, and most effective ways to protect your cat for life.
While we hope your Ragdoll never becomes lost, permanent identification provides invaluable peace of mind should the unexpected ever happen. Combined with a breakaway collar, regular veterinary care, and keeping your contact information up to date, a microchip greatly improves the chances of a happy reunion if your cat is ever separated from you.
At Pink Purrrdolls, every kitten leaves our home already microchipped because their safety doesn't end the day they go home—it lasts a lifetime. We are committed to giving every kitten the very best start, and permanent identification is one more way we help protect the precious lives entrusted to us. 🤍
